Videos featuring Alain Clark singing the single “Hold On” have been popping up more and more recently, embedded in multiple music blogs, and subsequently featured in music aggregators such as Elbo.ws.
Many of the videos are just the track playing while either a collage of pictures flashes across the screen, or one picture of Alain is shown, stagnant throughout the song. There have been a few live performance videos of Alain singing “Hold On” floating around, though, such as the one recorded for Alain’s performance on Radio 538, complete with backup singers and an entire band.
“Hold On” is of course the new single from Alain’s debut UK release 'Live It Out', and where “Father and Friend” was touchingly sweet, “Hold On” is incredibly upbeat in relaying its message: that everything will work out for the best. This is exactly the sort of song that Alain is gifted at writing. While many soul singers tend to focus on the downs life hands them, Alain openly admits that he hasn’t really known any times of steep depression or sadness, which results in pleasant and positive songs such as these first few singles from “Live It Out.”
The “Hold On” performance featured live on Radio 538 can be seen on a few websites, such as RnBDirt.com and VideoMusix.com (which I recommend, because the video quality is amazing, which helps for a better all-around experience). In the slightly cramped Radio 538 studio, Alan and his band really lay into the song, and it becomes apparent just how talented the new soul singer Alain is through this live appearance. Many artists tend to prove just how much their voices are improved upon in the studio during live performances, but Alain’s sweetly soaring vocals are nothing but a treat in this live rendition of “Hold On.”
