Alain talks to Sugarscape

Alain gave a short but sweet interview to the website Sugarscape recently.

In light of his new UK debut the singing sensation discussed what he does to prepare for a live performance, which musician he would trade places with, where in the world he would choose to live, and some more obscure topics.  The interview tone was typical of the website – featuring some fantastic questions for the new soul singer to answer, and he of course gave his replies good naturedly.

Alain says that if he could live anywhere in the world, it would be in the house he just purchased in Amsterdam.  Obviously the upbeat pop singer-songwriter is content with his lot in life, though he could consider living in Milan, as he has spent time touring Italy and enjoys the sun and Italian food.  (Not to mention the Italian language – which is something Alain would like to learn.)

If the best-selling musician could trade shoes with anyone for the day, he would select Michael Jackson, for the opportunity to work with Quincy Jones on a record.  (Well, Alain would either pick Michael, or his girlfriend, so he could have the opportunity to read her thoughts for the day!)
Alain is not the kind of performer who stresses very much before performing.  He says he doesn’t have any strict routines, but instead tries to relax, and the singer makes sure that he has had enough sleep and a good meal before the show.

“To me a gig is about having a good time,” he says. “I hang out with the band and make sure everyone is comfortable before we get on stage. It’s not like a sports event where you have to focus and be all ready for it. It’s like letting go and seeing where the evening takes you. If you prepare for something you take away any spontaneous elements.”
