Male singer Alain Live on Radio 2

As it stands, potential listeners have six days remaining to listen to Dermot O’Leary’s latest Radio 2 episode on which Alain Clark is featured as a guest. Alongside Alain for the interview was his father, blues singer Dane Cook. Alain and his father played the single “Father and Friend” live in the Radio 2 studio, and Alain discussed the father son duet with O’Leary.

“My dad is such a great singer. Never professionally, but he used to have a band back in the day and sing all kinds of old soul tunes, you know. So I really wouldn’t have asked him to sing with me if he couldn’t sing like he can, obviously, and yeah – I just wrote a song to sing with my dad.”

The ever verbose Dermot O’Leary asked Alain if he’d been surprised by the song’s success, and Alain admitted that it had come as a bit of a surprise that such a personal statement could be so well-liked by masses of people. O’Leary also inquired as to whether Dane Cook was likely to be on hand for live performances of the song during Alain’s tour.

“Whenever we play live and my dad’s there, then we sing the song. But I can’t play when he’s not there. I never really expected it to be that big, to be honest, because it was really just a personal song. It’s a dialogue between me and my dad and all of the sudden it’s out there.”
The rendition of “Father and Friend that the two performed was a testament to both men’s highly satisfying vocal talents (though this is certainly not news; Alain is known for putting on a show that is very pleasing to the ears).

The buzz on “Father and Friend” has been pretty extensive, which makes it easy to forget that Alain actually has an entire album coming out soon – Live It Out will drop on April 6.
