Alain Clark made the exodus from rainy Amsterdam and sat down with the celebrity gossip magazine Female First in sunny London in order to perpetuate the buzz on his upcoming UK debut, Live It Out, UK debut, Live It Out, which is scheduled to drop April 5. At the same time the soul singer gave fans and readers a glimpse into his light-hearted soul sounds and how they came to be.
The soul singer managed to get in a lot of information during the short interview, including the details of his own history and he unabashedly delved into the details of his own melodic sound, inspirations, and favorite musical memory – which occurred very recently, at a Stevie Wonder concert.
The “mind blowing” Stevie Wonder concert that Alain saw last year during the classic soul singer’s tour made him cry “like a little school girl” and the remarkable experience only fueled Alain’s conviction that Stevie Wonder is still the best musician around at the moment. However, if he had to choose just one album to listen to for ever after, Alain Clark would select Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’, because he finds it endlessly captivating.
From this selection of favorites, it’s obvious where some of Alain’s influences have been derived, but the soul singer’s musical beginnings were formed early in life, and in his own home. His father Dane Clark, a soul musician himself, has long been a part of an old soul cover band, and this constant influence obviously had a huge effect so when he was nine Alain’s mother invested in guitar lessons for her son.
The result of course being Alain’s ever-expanding career as a soul musician, but for all of his experience he remains easy-going and unafraid to joke around a bit. If he were to convince consumers to spend their last few quid on his album, for example, he’d try to do so by telling them how his album will get their minds off all of their economic troubles.
