Top soul singer Alain Clark’s ‘Live It Out’ hits the blogosphere

Bloggers have been convening on Alain Clark’s soon-to-be-released album, and there have been several reviews worth mentioning, including one that referred to Live It Out as “a bit of timeless soul pop.” I Saw It on the Box.com also issued a positive blurb about the album, and made mention of Alain’s suburb performance on the Paul O’Grady Show.  Another blogger advised that “Father & Friend” was an appropriate single for any son has ever felt close to his father.

In a way, the blog Fizzy Pop!! likened Alain Clark’s album to the sounds of Bryn Christopher, the little known English singer-songwriter, which is an appropriate enough comparison, except that Bryn takes the funkier path while Alain prefers to keep things on more of a soulful pop note. Specifically, the review said, “Bored of waiting for the nation to realize how utterly amazing Bryn Christopher is? Me too. So in the meantime, why not check out funk-pop-soulster Alain Clark.”

The two tracks that Fizzy Pop!! recommends from Live It Out are “Blow Me Away” (which, the writer informer readers, “will do just that”), and “Father & Friend” (which has already garnered many favourable reviews).  In “Blow Me Away,” Alain’s soulful voice takes on a gruffer edge, complimenting the “sax driven Prince-esque instrumental.” Though “Father & Friend” may sound unbearably saccharine on paper, it “is actually a very decent bit of timeless soul pop. Well done!”

‘I Saw It on the Box’ made mention of the upcoming album, and chatted about a few of Alain’s accomplishments, of which we are already very familiar: Alain was on hand with his father for his British television debut on the Paul O’Grady Show, and the singer dedicated the duet to his father.  Alain’s album has actually already gone multi-platinum in Europe, where his singles stayed firmly in the sales charts during all of 2008.
