She followed/stalked a punk band for a while and has subsequently become the darling of BBC radio. Florence & The Machine are playing on the John Peel stage at 20:00 to 21:00 on Saturday. Check out an acoustic version of her songs below:
8. Fleet Foxes
The Fleet Foxes are a 5-piece band from Seattle. Their front man Robin Pecknold has said that he owes his success to online piracy. Pecknold also said that the Fleet Foxes would never sign with a major record label. He wrote on his blog, ““Fleet Foxes will never, ever, under no circumstances, from now until the world chokes on gas fumes, sign to a major label,”. Fleet Foxes are performing at the Pyramid stage on Friday at 16:40 to 17:40. Check out their video below.
7. Horace Andy
Horace Andy is one of the most respected reggae artists in the world with a huge back catalogue of songs. Massive Attack brought him to a wider audience on their track “Angel” on the Mezzanine album. He has been credited with influencing a whole generation of reggae listeners and his Glastonbury performance is sure to be one of the highlights of the festival. Check out Horace Andy at “The Park Stage between 16:50 to 17:50”. Watch a video clip below:
6. The Specials
The Specials are undoubtedly the best band to ever come out of Coventry. After seven consecutive UK Top 10 singles between 1979 and 1981, including, Ghost Town and Too Much Too Young the band broke up. Now they’re back on the road and have reformed just in time for lucky Glastonbury goers. They play the Pyramid stage at 20:00 to 21:15. Here’s their classic hit Ghost Town:
5. Neil Young
Ever since Buffalo Springfield Neil Young has enjoyed critical acclaim from his peers and music journalists. After The Gold Rush is still regarded by many as one of the finest albums every released and he has influenced more people than anyone can care to remember. Along with A Tribe Called Quest, Q-Tip has produced for some of the biggest hip-hop artists on the planet and still finds time to do his own stuff. He’s produced tracks for Slum Village, Nas and Mobb Depp
3. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
You won’t see many people as gloomy and dark as Nick Cave over the Glastonbury weekend, but it still promises to be an exciting performance for anybody hanging around the Pyramid Stage on Sunday between 20:00 and 21:15. Just make sure you put on your goth repellent though as they’re sure to be out in full force.
2. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
