After X Factor winner Alexandra Burke relocated to Los Angeles, she found herself in a new friendship with fellow pop star Beyonce, and it seems that this friendship is to influence Burke’s promised “fierce, sexy, sassy” new persona.
The singer is finally ready for her time to shine, and she tells the Daily Record: “I’d like to call it the beast, the beast that comes out on stage. I’ve not got an alter ego. I just know that when I’m onstage and I hear my song come on and I’ve got that microphone in my hand, I’m in heaven. So a beast has got to come out for me to perform. You’re as good as your last performance, so you’ve got to tear it up. Own that stage – that’s what Simon Cowell would say to me.”
Burke broke out her new single, “Bad Boys,” during Chris Moyles’ Radio 1 morning show on August 25, and the debut happened to coincide with the singer’s twenty first birthday. The song falls under the umbrella of electro pop, and features American hitmaker Flo Rida.
“It’s just been an absolute whirlwind with everything that’s happened,” Burke says on life in LA. “From getting off the tour then going straight to the States to record, it’s been magical, absolutely magical, making this album. It’s relaxing to wake up to some sunshine then go and do what you love to do. I really couldn’t ask for more. It really is a dream come true.”
Burke says she was thrilled when Beyonce appeared during one of her studio sessions: “I opened my eyes and she was standing there. She is very supportive and I’m just very thankful to know that I actually sang with her.”
The two performed a duet together during an episode of X Factor.
