An MTV writer has revealed that the stunt by Sacha Baron Cohen in which the comedian landed on Eminem, giving the rapper the best view in the house of his naked backside, was rehearsed.
Though Eminem was filmed storming out of the MTV Movie Awards after Cohen’s gay fashionista alter ego “crash” landed on him, Scott Aukerman – the head writer of the show – informed the world via his blog that the incident was staged and rehearsed beforehand, writing: “They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show.”
Baron Cohen flew into the Los Angeles venue attached to a wire in the ceiling, and appeared to collide with a set of speakers before plummeting headfirst into Eminem’s lap. news sources couldn’t help but speculate over whether the incident was staged or not, prompting Aukerman to write, “Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged. That’s all anyone wants to talk about, so let’s get it out of the way.”
It wasn’t long before the blog entry in question was deleted from the MTV writer’s blog.
Before its digital demise, the blog posting told of sketches that had been cut from the awards program: “We tried several things, from topical jokes to sketches. Anything that didn’t involve pointing out a celebrity or saying a curse word fell completely flat during rehearsals. Subtlety just does not work during that show.”
He also managed to highlight how underpaid television writers are, revealing that he and the other writers were awarded with “a few hundred dollars” for their talents.
Twilight was the big winner at this year’s MTV Movie Awards; the movie picked up five golden popcorns, including those for best film, best actress for Kristen Stewart, and best male breakthrough performance for Robert Pattinson.
