Kings of Leon Can’t Get Enough Golf

kolgolf
Following the staggering global success of 2008's Only By The Night, not to mention the band's hitherto voracious appetite for recording and touring, it wouldn't be out of place for Kings of Leon fans to be expecting a new album very soon. However, it seems that such plans might be on hold for now. But while you might assume these wild boys of rock must be getting sidetracked with the usual antics of rehab and bust-ups, the reason for the temporary distraction from music is actually far more respectable. Golf.
Yes, the Followill clan – brothers Caleb (guitar and vocals), Nathan (drums), Jared (bass) and their cousin Matthew (lead guitar) have followed the lead of 70s rocker Alice Cooper and fallen in love with the game. The obsession is, in fact, so deep that they have put back recently scheduled recording sessions in order to indulge themselves in their new pastime.

“They love golf, they can't get enough of it,” revealed a source close to the band. “Nathan is a brilliant player but Caleb is having a good go and snapping at his heels.

“Everyone hopes they will have another album out this year but they're in no rush,” added the source. “They are really enjoying life away from the studio.”

Whether recent revelations concerning US Golf sensation Tiger Woods have made the traditionally conservative game seem a little more attractive to those of a more rock'n'roll persuasion is unclear, however the boys certainly aren't restricting themselves to the local courses in their home of town of Nashville, Tennessee.

During their recent forays to British shores, the band have already notched up a few rounds at the legendary St Andrews course in Scotland (cue an array of jokes regarding the “Tee” in the Park festival, which they headlined last summer... ).

To add to the band's new-found love of the finer things in life, Nathan has also started importing fine wine. But don't think the rebellious ways have disappeared for good. Caleb recently told his mates that when nature called he had no hesitation in relieving himself in the rough on the famous St Andrews 17th hole!
