It seems that pop sensation Mika is perhaps even more eccentric than we thought. The flamboyant singer has revealed that he stuffs veal into his designer-label shoes in order to prevent them from hurting his feet while dancing on stage.
According to the Beirut-born 26 year old, it was famous shoe designer and close friend Christopher Louboutin that suggested this rather random course of action. However, while solving the problem of pain in those dancing feet of his, Mika has admitted that this rather unique approach to podiatry is not without it's own issues. “It works but it starts to smell eventually,” he said.Mika has also confessed to a peculiar penchant for, wait for it, wood of all things, hence him naming DIY chain Homebase as one of his favourite shops in his home city of London. “Whenever I am depressed I go there.
I am rubbish at DIY but I love buying bits of wood.” And what's more, it seems that he'd only buy his chosen planks in batches of three after admitting to a life-long compulsion for having not one, but two spares of everything. The former Royal College of music student also admitted a fear of fish, naming them as the one thing of which he is most afraid.
It seems that ducks, however, rank significantly higher in Mika world. “When I was a child I was obsessed with them,” he said. “They get fed, they don't have money problems and they go on holiday for free in big groups.”
And when asked to name which of his possessions he'd save from a fire, the 2008 Brit award winner didn't even mention any of the clutch of gongs that have come his way since he burst on to the scene in 2007 with UK number one single, Grace Kelly. Instead he said he'd grab his original illustrations of childrens cartoon characters, Mr Benn and Tintin, which were bought when the first of his royalty cheques came in.
Mika's new single, Blame It On the Girls, is released next month and he is touring the UK throughout February and March.
