Paloma Faith’s latest single “Stone Cold Sober” has become one of the surprise hits of the summer. Paloma Faith certainly has a distinctive musical sound and clearly has a unique fashion style. She mixes burlesque with goth and her music is soulful but with a spiky edge.
The Guardian described her as "vampish," soulful pop is more like "Björk meets Róisín Murphy while possessed by the ghost of Billie Holiday,"
Much of her style is inspired by a sense of nostalgia. "There are elements of hope in old things because they were born out of periods of struggle where hope was all people had," she says in an interview. "The thing about old music is that it transcends time. Timelessness is the essence of good art."
Paloma Faith isn’t just a singer, she can also act. Paloma was starred as “Andrea” in the 2007 film St Trinians. She is also set to star in former Monty Python member Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”
Paloma Faith is one of the most hotly tipped newcomers set for success this year. She is currently sitting in the top 10 of most tweeted songs on the site Hype Machine and many of her fans are clamouring to hear more from this talented singer. Her single “Stone Cold Sober” is available to download now.
