The Mirror reports that Amy Winehouse will be granted a speedy divorce from husband Blake Fielder-Civil today. The infamous couple has finally called it quits after years of ups, downs and addictions.
The couple will be granted a Decree Nisi in the Family Division of the High Court by a judge, though there is a waiting period until the divorce is complete. After six weeks and one day, their divorce will be finalized and a Decree Absolute will be granted.
This seems to be good news for both the singer’s family and fans, as many blame Fielder-Civil as the root of the singer’s many problems. The two years the couple spent married were filled with alcohol and drug addictions, as well as accusations of affairs and actual self-harm.
The couple met at a pub in Camden, North London in 2005 and was married two years later when they eloped to Miami. The Mirror recalls that there has been plenty of physical violence between the pair, including an incident in 2007 that left Winehouse will blood-filled ballet slippers and Fielder-Civil’s face covered with scratches.
A spokesman for Amy told the Mirror: “She is ready to move on following the end of the marriage. She has not had any contact with Blake for months and is focusing on the future. She’s finishing off her album and in good health.”
Winehouse has just arrived back in the UK from an extended vacation in St. Lucia, where she was working on an album which she is preparing for a release later in the year.
