Robbie Williams scheduled for another X Factor appearance

robbieHis recent appearance on reality television contest X Factor may have been widely criticized, but Robbie Williams has been asked back to appear on the show’s finale. The singer will appear on the program this weekend, alongside other big names like Paul McCartney, George Michael and Michael Buble. Williams will be performing a duet with show contestant Olly Murs.

The veteran pop star’s performance on the show left many fans wondering whether or not he was sober, according to the Daily Mirror. His dance routine during his comeback performance of the single “Bodies” was also the subject of mockery, and many questioned whether he would be able to make his big comeback after all.

The final will run over Saturday and Sunday, and Williams will be given the opportunity to prove that he can once again light up a stage. Joe McElderry is scheduled to perform with George Michael during the finale, and Stacey Solomon will join Michael Buble for an onstage duet.

The singer, whose comeback album Video Killed the Radio Star debuted on the charts at No. 2, was recently rumored to have gotten engaged. Williams denies this, claiming that the on-air proposal to long time girlfriend Ayda Field was a “joke.”

He wrote on this website over the weekend: “Hey all. We are not engaged. Rob.” And his publicist added rather stiffly that “We have no more comment on this apart from to confirm that they are not engaged.”
Jan Williams, the singer’s mother, had recently informed BBC 5 Live that her famous son planned on asking Field for her hand in marriage. She said: “They’ve been together for nearly three years, so it’s about time. She’s a great mate, as well as a lover. She’s got all the qualities that he needs in a girl. It’s a lovely match.”
