Simon and Garfunkel Play Surprise Reunion Gig in New York

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel reunited for a three songs on Simon’s show. Simon and Garfunkel performed the tracks "The Sound of Silence," "The Boxer" and "Old Friends" at the newly renovated Beacon Theater.

Simon Garfunkel played for over two hours and covered all parts of his solo career before Garfunkel joined him on stage. There had been buzz in the air Garfunkel’s singer wife Kim was spotted in the audience.

Simon and Garfunkel rose to fame in 1965, backed by the hit single "The Sounds of Silence". Their music was featured in the film The Graduate featuring Dustin Hoffman. The band were known for their close vocal harmonies and sometimes unstable relationship. Their last album, Bridge over Troubled Water, was delayed several times because of artistic disagreements.

The pair took up their old positions, side by side, and played to a celebrity packed audience which included Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Harvey Weinstein, Rosie O’Donnell and Kelli Carpenter, and Whoopi Goldberg.
