The nominations for the 2010 Mercury music Prize have been announced at an event at the Hospital Club in London's Covent Garden.
The list consists of more established acts than last year, when Speech Debelle was the controversial winner, with many in the music industry saying that the panel responsible for making the shortlist have played it safe. BBC 6 Music DJ Lauren Laverne said "It's a great list with some great albums"
