Glastonbury 2010 sells out in hours

The Independent reports that tickets for next year’s summer festival in Pilton, England, sold out via GlastonburyRegistration.co.uk within twelve hours of going on sale on Sunday.

Organizers of the entertainment event, Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts made pre-registration a necessity for purchasing tickets to the event. Those who plan on attending gave personal information and a photograph of themselves to be printed on nontransferable tickets. Though pre-registering didn’t guarantee tickets when they went on sale on October 4, tickets couldn’t be purchased by anyone who didn’t do so.
Next summer’s Glasto will take place between June 23 and 27, 2010, but even if one of the main headlining acts was booked in February of 2009,  organizers will not be announcing just who will appear onstage until sometime next year.

Don’t despair if you have yet to secure your ticket to the world’s largest greenfield festival – another round of pre-registration is set to begin early next year, when tickets from cancelled orders become available.
According to the Guardian, tickets to the 2009 festival took weeks to sellout, and tickets for the previous year’s festival were available all the way up until the day the festival began (a fact attributed to less than favorable weather in previous years).
