Site launched to compare music download prices

CompareDownload.com has just been launched in order to help users compare download music track prices between retail sites like iTunes, 7Digital, Amazon, Play, Tesco Digital and We7.

According to The Telegraph, the company will be using its ground-breaking technology in order to make these music downloading services transparent to buyers. The site will allow potential buyers to search more than 10 million songs in a few seconds in order to spot the best price.
Those behind the site hope that it will help to reduce the amount of illegal filesharing and piracy, a battle in which they are not alone.
Once the cheapest version of the track in question is displayed, users will be able to click on that track in order to be brought to that retailer’s website, where users can then purchase the track.

The website, launched August 4, also offers its clients a range of further information – artist tour dates and ticket information, for example – and links to share tracks via email will also be made available. The site features video content from YouTube and listener reviews from Amazon.
Additionally, Compare Download partnered with the download service We7 so that users will be able to stream the top 100 downloads for free.
James Blott, the site’s co-founder, said: “The inspiration for the site was born out of frustration at having to search through a range of stores to find the music I wanted at the right price.”
