Several big names on the current music scene – including Pixie Lott, VV Brown, Tinchy Stryder, N-Dubz and Chipmunk – have taken their talents into the studio to create a single for the charity War Child.
The collective calls themselves Young Soul Rebels, and together they’ve created a remix of “All These Things That I’ve Done” by the Killers. The spin on the song is being called “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier,” and is to be a charity single due out in August.
The song will support children who live in war zones worldwide. Ben Knowles, War Child’s music and entertainment director, tells the BBC: “The concept was born out of the big collaboration that was done last year with Coldplay, the Killers, Bono and Gary Barlow, when they all got together and sang this song. So we thought we’d take it one step further and try and get the message out to a new generation. The Killers have totally approved the track and it’s going to be big. Some of the artists have already had five number one tracks between them this year so far. It’s very exciting.”
War Child and the artists behind this track hope to raise awareness for their cause.
“I think it’s really easy when you’re a musician to get consumed with your own self,” says singer-songwriter VV Brown. “You’re making music and you know, everyone’s asking you questions about your life and stuff. I think it’s nice to give something to something else and be part of something conscious.”
