Last year saw the dawn of various talents from across the pond in the likes of Pop superstars Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, but it would seem that the UK can produce some pretty formidable competition when it comes to creating the ultimate Pop Princess, ranging from electro synth pop with the Citadels & Chew Lips, R&B beauties with N Dubz to all out pop attack with Pixie Lott & Little Boots.
Take a look at our run down of the Top 10 Sexiest British Female Singers of 2009 and see for yourself…just don't expect to see Susan Boyle on this list!
10. Lucy Taylor (Citadels)
Singer, Flautist, pianist and commander of the synth, is there anything little Lucy Taylor of London based band Citadels doesn’t do? This perfect mix of talent and beauty seems to have attracted some notable interest from other artists looking to borrow Lucy every now and again, including recently performing on stage with MGMT & providing keys for Stings daughter's band I Blame Coco.

9. Frankie (The Saturdays)

Frankie has certainly grown since her exploits in UK spin-off pop group ‘S-Club Juniors’ back in the early 00’s, and is now one of five members of the most talked about girl band of 2009 – The Saturdays.
After using the support slot given to them on a previous Girls Aloud tour as a spring board, The Saturdays are now flying high in the UK charts, as well as winning numerous awards, such as Best New Act in the Virgin Media Online music Awards Poll 2008 and Popjustice’ Best Album Sleeve artwork award, testament to the effort all the Saturdays girls effort to blow Girls Aloud out of the water in the looks department!
8. Lucie (Dolly Rockers)

Lucie is part of pop trio The Dolly Rockers, who have recently been described as producing ‘Wonky Pop’ by the UK press;
However, they would much prefer it described as ‘Drunk Disco’ Regardless of how you would describe their music, you’ll find one description of The Dolly Rockers with a unanimous vote. Sexy, hot and definitely a pop band to keep your eye on in 2009!
7. Tigs (Chew Lips)
There is nothing ordinary about Chew Lips. Not their way of making music, or their live shows, or indeed, their inception.
After doing the Indie Band thing in previous bands, in the spring of this year vocalist Tigs along with other band members James Watkins and Will Sanderson eventually decided to start making music together, with only one edict: not to sound like Just Another Guitar Band.
6. Tula "Tulisa" Contostavlos (N-Dubz)
Although Tulisa has recently been in the media for having suspected swine flu (tests later confirmed it was not swine flu) after fainting on stage at a gig, she is better known for slightly less worrying achievements.
Tulisa is the jewel in the crown of MOBO award winning London based hip-hop outfit N’Dubz, who have just featured in Tinchy Stryders latest single ‘Number 1’ which, not surprisingly, reached the number one spot in the UK singles charts earlier last month.
5. Little Boots
Victoria Hesketh, aka Little Boots, topped all kinds of critics’ polls of artists to watch in 2009. It was a view apparently formed around home-made YouTube videos featuring wonky electro rearrangements of pop hits on an experimental Japanese electronic instrument (the Tenori-On).
She seemed ready made for headlines proclaiming that the future is female, with Victoria its crown princess. Despite once failing a Pop Idol audition, Little Boots sounds as if she wouldn’t be out of place in Girls Aloud, albeit she could probably feature as writer, producer and synth player as well as pin-up performer.
4. Paloma Faith
The force of nature that answers to the name Paloma Faith is one that has been known in underground arts circles in London for some time. As an ex magician’s assistant, trained contemporary dancer, St Martin’s college alumni with an MA in theatre direction, performer in burlesque shows and actress , Paloma has been mixing media throughout her short adult life.
3. Emma Deigman
Emma is currently on a UK arena tour with none other than Girls Aloud, and from the sounds of it, things are going well.
With the good looks of a pop diva and the soulful, head-turning voice to match, things are looking good for 20 year old Emma, who currently has over 1 million views on Youtube, for cover versions of Lady Gaga’s ‘Just Dance’ and The Killers ‘Human’ along side both the official video and acoustic version of her latest single ‘It Was You’.
2. VV Brown
VV Brown is making headway with her upcoming single, “Shark in the Water,” already available for your listening pleasure through YouTube
This week the singer, songwriter, and producer has captured the attention of various music bloggers – including one which declared VV the “Recommendation Weekly,” and branded her “one of the brand new and hottest names for the summer.”
Although VV’s first love is music, she doesn’t limit herself. VV is polishing off work on a Comic book series and VV Vintage, a clothing range dealing in, well, vintage clothing mainly!
1. Pixie Lott
Pixie Lott Pictures
With Pixie Lott just having released her debut single “Mama Do,” (which is currently sitting pretty at the top of the iTunes singles chart and looking good to take top spot on Sunday) more and more music critics and bloggers are sitting up to take note of the 18-year-old Essex singer and her highly anticipated debut album Turn It Up (which is due for release in September).
Pixie may charm everyone she meets with her striking good looks, but when she begins to sing the real magic settles in, and it’s nearly impossible not to become an instant fan of her soulful pop sounds.
