Shaheen is a singing sensation within his family hometown of Cardiff, performing at birthdays and weddings, but Simon isn't impressed, until he changes the song!
Watch the potential that Cardiff has to offer as he sings a brilliant version of Michael Jackson's "Who's Loving You"
Out of the hundreds and hundred of acts Simon Cowell sees both on The X Factor and on Britain’s Got talent, there aren’t many that make him jump out of his chair and give a rapturous applause.
But that is exactly what 12 year-old Shaheen Jafargholi did at his Cardiff audition… second time of asking!
Like all good singers Shaheen started very young, and has been entertaining his hometown with his beautiful voice and charm since he was even smaller than he is now!
He decided to sing Amy Winehouse’s hit single Valerie as it’s one of his granpa’s fav songs, but no sooner was he 20 seconds into the number when Simon raised his hand and asked him to stop, much to the anguish of the audience and the other judges.
“You’ve got this really wrong,” he told him: “what do you sing apart from that?”
A look of bewilderment crosses the young lad’s face before he answers: “Who’s Loving You, by Michael Jackson.”
The new track was started by the back stage team and Shaheen bursts into song for the second time with his little voice. On this occasion it is much more to Simon’s liking as a huge smile comes across the multi million selling record moguls face.
It is not long before the entire audience are up on their feet cheering. At the song’s finale all three judges stand and applaud the welsh schoolboy, the feeling that something special had taken place was felt by all.
“This is how one song can change your life,” says Simon: “This may be the start of something special for you young man.”
Another great decision by the genius that is Cowell, hearing greatness behind a potential star in the making.
