Pet Shop Boys West End Girls

The Pet Shop Boys hit single, West End Girls was so successful that it was released twice. Neil Tennant from the band based the lyrics for the song on by T.S. Elliot's poem The Waste Land. The lyrics tackle themes of class and social pressure.

West End Girls was produced by Bobby Orlando. It was originally released in 1984 and became a huge club hit in both Europe and the United States for the Pet Shop Boys. The song was then remixed for their first studio album, Please, in 1985. The pet shop boys always write music from the heart and this song is no different.

The song reached number in the UK and US charts in 1986. West End Girls also won a Brit Award for best single and an Ivor Novello Award for Best International Hit. The song also received further awards from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters when it was considered to be Song of The Decade between the years 1985 and 1994.
