The Days’ Video Shoot - Behind the scenes

The Days members Luke, Dan, Harry, and Tim have added a new addition to their band website: a montage-like video stream documenting the making of their latest video for the upcoming single “Never Give Up.”

A teaser of the video was posted last week on the band’s Vimeo account (as well as displayed on their MySpace page), in which The Days give a performance in an American high school-style gymnasium in front of a couple of blushing young ladies.

In the video, the band attempts to “play for as long as [they] can,” as if shooting for some kind of athletic record (indeed, the boys wear track suits and playfully do a few warm-up exercises in front of the camera).  Dan explained in the making-of video that the costumes were designed with the word retro in mind – the band’s two piece track suits date back to the seventies, and the rest of the cast (including girls who pose as groupies, and older gentlemen who could easily pose as members of a motorcycle gang, but are actually playing the band’s roadies) are suited up in similar seventies adornments.

Like many making-of video documentaries, the one The Days gives us is a behind the scenes look at not only production efforts and hours of hard work that went into the short video, but also a portrait of the band having a fun time on the set.  The four musicians have a fantastic rapport together – an important part of their musical chemistry.  Throughout the video shoot the guys kick oversized footballs at one another, playfully berate each other for not being spot-on with lines, and narrate the slight pains they must endure in order to be a part of the shoot (getting up early in the morning, for starters).

The comedic quality and uplifting spirit of the upcoming video is already apparent through this documentary and teaser, even if the band hasn’t yet released the entire video.
