Top indie band Scouting for Girls talk about tourmates The Days

The Virgin music website posted an interview with Scouting for Girls a few days ago, and in it the band was asked whether or not they felt like they were big brothers to The Days, with whom they had toured with last year. A few years ago they were just another of the unsigned bands touring the country.

The question posed was, “Your support act from last year The Days are now signed to a major label and have just released their new single, do you feel like big brothers to them?”

The band’s frontman and piano player Greg Churchouse replied that he wasn’t one to feel much more experienced in the biz than anyone else. He said, “I don’t feel like that towards anyone! I don’t consider ourselves veterans at all. When we started out we didn’t have a clue and we still don’t have clue now. We haven’t changed! The best piece of advice I always give to people is not to take my advice.”

The interviewer also pointed out to Churchhouse that there were a lot of a bands coming out that were being labeled as “ones to watch,” and asked him which bands he was keeping his eye on.

Churchouse spoke somewhat diplomatically when he answered that he mostly listened to older music. “I’m the wrong one to ask! My music collection is full of 60s, 70s and 80s stuff. We’ve had some awesome support bands on our tours though, Attic Lights, The Days and Go:Audio – who are my personal favourites.”

We’re really happy that he acknowledged how good The Days are! And he would know, since the two bands spent so much time touring together.

At the end of the interview Churchouse said that the band hoped to be back on the road in November. From the interview, he was going to see a real estate agent since the lease was up on his flat and he was about to have no place to live!
