European tour from Paul McCartney

A seven date tour from Paul McCartney will begin – naturally – in Hamburg, and conclude with a Christmas performance at the London O2 Arena on December 22. The short tour dates will include gigs in Berlin, Arnhem, Paris, Cologne and Dublin.

The Good Evening Europe tour will wrap up in London exactly 46 years after the Beatles performed their first Christmas show at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool, according to the Telegraph.

“This is my chance to bring our current show home to where it all began,” Macca said when announcing the upcoming jaunt. “Starting in Hamburg, ending in London and rocking everywhere in between. I’m very much looking forward to ending the year on a high.”

McCartney’s last performance in the UK took place in June of 2008, when he took part in Liverpool’s Capital of Culture festivities by playing at Anfield Stadium. A gig in Las Vegas featuring the former Beatle earlier this year sold out in seven seconds.

Chief executive of the company that owns and operates the O2 arena (AEG Europe) David Campbell said: “Since we opened over two years ago, Paul McCartney has been the dream act. I am absolutely thrilled that dream has now become a reality and this true British musical icon will play the building. It doesn’t get much better than this.”
Though McCartney has utilized the venue in the past to rehearse for his Glastonbury performance, this will be the first time that he has ever appeared publically at the London O2. £55 will buy fans the least expensive ticket to see the ex-Beatle perform, and tickets go on sale Monday via Ticketmaster.co.uk.
